We have chosen to ask our parents to provide packed lunches for their children, as we have found by providing cooked meals at lunchtime there was significant amount of wastage. We recognise that parents know exactly what their children like to eat and this has resulted in the children eating significantly more at lunchtime giving them greater energy throughout the afternoon.

We require our parents to follow the guidlines set by the Healthy Under 5’s programme when preparing packed lunches. Healthy Under 5’s is a Cornwall County Council run programme to combat childhood obesity and ensure children are getting the correct nutrients, minerals and vitamins throughout the day based on a balanced diet.

We offer healthy snacks between meals and water and milk is available throughout the day. We encourage children to explore new healthy foods and talk to the children about the meals to encourage social interaction.

*All children under the age of 2 years of age will be given full fat milk (unless parent has specified otherwise), Semi-skimmed milk is also available for all children.
